To enhance the personalised dentistry we offer, our dentists use the latest technology to make your experience in our Charters Towers dental practice more efficient and comfortable. Much of our technology is designed to deliver same-day dental treatments for our patients who appreciate convenience or who travel long distances for their dentistry.
Here are some of the ways we use technology at GoldCity Dental Centre.
Same-Day CEREC Crowns and Veneers
You no longer have to wait weeks for your final restorations. Using CEREC technology, our in-house milling machine fabricates durable, high-quality ceramic dental crowns, veneers, inlays and onlays that match your existing teeth for a seamless and fast result.
Digital impressions capture the proper size and shape of the tooth. Our software digitally designs restorations before sending the information to our CEREC mill where your custom restoration will be carved out of aesthetic ceramic. Our dentists then provide the shading and colour, place the restoration, and you can leave the practice with a world-class restoration without the wait associated with dental laboratories.
Because of their negative reputation, root canal treatments are often dreaded by patients. In reality, modern technology has improved this procedure so dramatically, it will often feel no different than a filling. Root canal treatments completed with rotary endodontics are faster and more accurate than ever before. Flexible titanium tips clean root canals, eliminating infection and the pain associated with damaged and inflamed nerve fibres.
Your root canal procedure is faster, more comfortable and can potentially save your tooth.
Mini Star Same-Day Appliances
A Mini Star machine is a device we use to create oral appliances including:
- Teeth whitening trays
- Orthodontic retainers
For patients who lose a retainer or require a bruxism nightguard, you can receive your oral appliance on the same day. We create a variety of them in-house with Mini Star technology. Moulds of teeth and flexible, BPA-free, heated plastics bind together through a vacuum process for a perfect fit designed just for you.
Panoramic x-rays provide our dentists with a full smile view of the teeth, bone and jaw joints. We capture digital panoramic images using an x-ray device that moves around the head. In just a few seconds, our dentists will have the information they need to plan orthodontic treatment, evaluate wisdom teeth and determine bone quality for dental implant placement.
In some cases, panoramic x-rays can reveal cysts, tumours and jaw joint dysfunction.
Many patients prefer to avoid gooey impression paste material. Digital impressions are far more comfortable for patients and eliminate distortions and air bubbles that can have a negative impact on restorative dentistry including crowns, implants and appliances.
Digital scans of the teeth also drive our CEREC technology in the creation of same-day restorations.
3-D Cone Beam Technology
When planning dental implant placement surgery or extractions, having a 3-D view of the mouth provides our dentists with the most accurate and beneficial information available. 3-D cone beam technology reveals bone quality and biological structures, such as sinuses, to make placing dental implants more precise.
Extraction surgeries are more predictable with a 3-D view of the teeth and roots, eliminating unexpected complications and improving healing times.
Televisions in Rooms
Many patients enjoy a distraction from their treatment. Enjoy your favourite programme or movie while we look after your oral health. Headphones can dull the sounds that often put patients on edge. We will take care of everything, and hope that you will make yourself at home while you are visiting us. Please let us know if you have any requests. Your comfort is our priority.
