At GoldCity Dental Centre, we provide family-friendly dentistry, and we make children our special guests. Helping little ones develop a healthy and positive attitude toward dental care and looking after their teeth. A positive dental experience at an early age can have a lifelong impact on your child’s oral health and wellness. This is why we offer reliable and personalised children’s dentistry and participate in the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS) to help with your family's oral health.
We begin treating children around age three, but welcome kids of all ages. We work closely with parents and caregivers to ensure that each child receives the proper instruction to look after their own smiles when away from the dental practice.
Early Childhood Dental Visits
When very young children accompany adults to their dental appointments, we will give them a ride in the chair and introduce them to the dental practice to eliminate fear when it’s their turn to have a check-up.
Prevention is essential at every life stage, and primary (baby or milk) teeth are no different. Children’s baby teeth are the blueprint for their future smiles, and maintaining them is essential for proper development and properly aligned teeth.

Preventing Dental Decay
Dental decay is one of the most common preventable childhood diseases. Avoiding sugary snacks is only part of what we recommend. Starchy foods, soft drinks, juice and regular snacking can also cause caries (decay).
Fluoride strengthens enamel through re-mineralisation, while dental sealants act as a barrier in the posterior (back) teeth, where deep grooves can trap bacteria that cause decay.
Oftentimes, our dentists, Dr Girish Basavaraj, Dr Jason Teoh and Dr Ankita Clarke, can identify decay visually during a child's check-up. Other times, decay is not visible and can only be detected on dental x-rays, called bitewings. We use digital radiography at GoldCity Dental Centre, which is safer and emits far less radiation than traditional film x-rays.
Sport and exercise make kids happy and puts all of that excess energy to good use. Many sport-related accidents, however, can put the teeth and gums at risk. We use advanced technology to create same-day mouthguards for kids. Wearing a sports guard can prevent knocked-out teeth, damaged gums and even severe jaw problems.
